Purist architecture, seamless indoor-outdoor living, and Occhio’s bespoke lighting sculpt the ultimate Mediterranean retreat where stone, water, and sky converge
High Five Villa: where light dissolves the line between sky and sea
Perched high on the cliffs of Mallorca’s western coast, High Five Villa hovers between Mediterranean blue and open sky. Designed by the local studio APM Mallorca and completed in 2024, this four-storey residence is a study in purist architecture. Pale stone planes meet lush vegetation, while floor-to-ceiling glass dissolves any sense of enclosure. During the day, rooms flow onto a pool terrace. Its vanishing edge visually blends with the horizon. When evening falls, the house transforms. A lighting concept by Munich-based brand Occhio animates the architecture and turns it into an after-dark stage.
Occhio’s design begins outdoors. Discreet Luna pura wall luminaires bathe the terrace in a low, velvety glow. They deepen the sunset rather than compete with it. On calm nights, their suspended counterpart—Luna sospeso—hovers like small moons above the infinity pool. These fixtures stretch the moon’s reflection into the water. The shift indoors is nearly seamless. On the main living level—an open sweep that includes the bar, kitchen, and dining area—three height-adjustable Mito cosmo move pendants float overhead. A simple gesture lowers them for an intimate dinner or retracts them flush into the ceiling. This flexibility allows the glass façades to slide open when the sea breeze invites it.

Luxury villa in Mallorca with seamless indoor–outdoor living: High Five Villa
Lighting becomes the house’s narrative spine. Eight Mito sospeso rings descend through the central stair void—two on each floor. Long cables allow the lights to appear as one continuous vertical sculpture, visible from nearly every vantage point. In the master suite, lighting is precise. Lui piano v edge downlights provide soft general light. Sento filo fixtures mounted at the headboard pivot to direct light for reading, without disturbing a partner. A private lounge nearby faces the bay. Here, the adjustable Gioia lettura floor lamp casts a warm, narrow beam. This creates a focused zone for reflection within a wide-open panorama.
Even the pool water joins the composition. Lui piano v edge downlights, recessed into the deck, align so precisely that their beams blend with moonlight. This effect makes the pool feel like an extension of the sea. Throughout, light supports the architecture. Surfaces feel continuous. Thresholds disappear. The villa’s minimalist design becomes a canvas for shifting colours and moods.

High Five Villa: Architectural lighting design by Occhio enhances minimalist space
High Five Villa also showcases Occhio’s broader design philosophy. The company began in Munich in 1999. Designer Axel Meise introduced a modular lighting system that offered a consistent form language, exceptional optical quality, and intuitive controls. Over 25 years later, Occhio has grown into a leading European luxury lighting brand. It now employs over 250 people, collaborates with 400 specialist partners, and operates flagship stores from Milan and London to Shanghai.
This Mallorca project distils that journey into architecture. It is both technically advanced and deeply human. Here, light is treated as raw material—equal in importance to stone, water, and sky.
From sunrise glinting off limestone façades to Mito rings glowing after midnight, High Five Villa shows how light can erase the boundary between building and atmosphere. It is not simply a house with lights. It is a luminous instrument, finely tuned to the rhythms of the island—and the people who live there.
