Frequently Asked Question

Invitedby Journal is an independent publication covering hospitality, architecture, design, restaurants, beauty, fashion, art and contemporary culture. Its editorial method begins with access: entering places, spending time on site and examining how architecture, materials, people and operations shape an experience.

The name comes from the expression invited by, commonly used on social media to disclose access granted by a brand, hotel, institution or event. Invitedby Journal turns that condition into an editorial method. Access provides proximity to a subject; it does not constitute endorsement.

No. An invitation, hosted stay, event accreditation or other form of access does not determine the editorial outcome. Access allows the journal to observe, document and research a subject directly. Editorial decisions remain separate from the conditions under which access is provided.

Hotels are examined as architectural and operational systems. Reporting considers architecture, interior design, materials, landscape, adaptive reuse, hospitality practices and the relationship between a property and its location.

The journal also looks beyond the visible aspects of design, considering sourcing, maintenance, energy use and other decisions that influence how a property functions.

Restaurant coverage considers food alongside architecture, interiors and operations. Reporting may examine chefs, ingredients, sourcing, supply chains, waste, materials, furniture, service and the relationship between a restaurant and its territory.

Beauty coverage focuses on fragrance, skincare and cosmetics through formulations, raw ingredients, research, production, packaging and everyday use. Particular attention is given to the people responsible for these processes, including perfumers, formulators, founders, designers and manufacturers.

Yes. Invitedby Journal covers developments across hospitality, architecture, design, travel, food, beauty, fashion and art.

The emphasis is on context rather than speed. Openings, exhibitions, collaborations, appointments and new projects are considered within the industries, places and histories to which they belong.

Photography is an integral part of Invitedby’s reporting. For on-site features, images are produced directly in the places being documented and developed alongside the written research.

The aim is to record architecture, objects, materials and environments as they are encountered rather than construct a separate representation for the article.

Press releases, image materials, project information and invitations can be submitted for editorial consideration. Receiving material does not guarantee publication.

Editorial relevance, available reporting opportunities and the journal’s areas of research determine whether a subject is developed further.

Invitedby Journal considers editorial access, reporting opportunities and selected communication projects with hotels, restaurants, brands, cultural institutions, architects, designers and other organisations.

Commercial or commissioned projects are managed separately from independent editorial coverage.

Editorial proposals can be considered when they correspond with the journal’s areas of coverage and reporting approach. Pitches should identify the subject, location, proposed angle and the type of access or original research available.
