Saint Laurent Rive Droite in New York is showing new sculptures by the American artist Brandon Morris, on view from 25 September to 16 November, during New York Art Week. The exhibition is curated by Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent’s creative director, who commissioned the work.

Who is Brandon Morris, the artist behind the Ghost Dresses

Morris was born in San Diego in 2000 and lives in New York. He studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design before turning to sculpture, and has built a practice on the transformation of materials — leather, nylon, fiberglass — around a single question: how a garment can exist independently of the human body.

His recent solo exhibitions are Tissu Expansé at EUROPA in Paris, Actress at EUROPA in New York, Cathedral Junkie at Pangée in Montréal and Cats Live in Loneliness then Die like Falling Rain at Gern En Regalia in New York. His work is held in the collections of the AMA Venezia Foundation in Venice and the ARTUNER Collection in Turin.

Fiberglass cloth and tinted resin: how the sculptures are made

The works extend his Ghost Dresses series, in which garments become hollow, freestanding sculptures that register presence through absence. They are made of fiberglass cloth, silkscreened with lace patterns and hardened with tinted resin: the woven glass fibre stays flexible until the resin cures, after which the cloth keeps its shape and the garment carries its own load. Against the earlier pieces in the series, these push the ghost figures into more theatrical forms, with elongated silhouettes, distorted gestures and expressive poses.

The commission: lace from Saint Laurent’s Winter 2026 collection

Vaccarello commissioned this body of work after Tissu Expansé, and Morris conceived it in response to the lace dresses from the Saint Laurent Women Winter 2026 collection.

Three of the sculptures are developed in direct relation to vintage furniture that Morris sourced himself, conceived as an integral part of each work and not as a display element. The furniture lets the figures take more relaxed postures, extending the series from standing apparitions to seated and reclining gestures. The works are courtesy of EUROPA NYC and Tatiana Roth.

Saint Laurent Rive Droite: a shop that programmes exhibitions

Rive Droite is the creative and cultural destination curated by Vaccarello, at 213 rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, with further locations at 469 Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, 72 Gansevoort Street in New York and Taikoo Li Sanlitun in Beijing.

The name refers to rive gauche, the Saint Laurent line that in the 1960s brought the house within reach of a wider public. The stores carry exclusive pieces and limited editions alongside books, vintage, music and photography, and run exhibitions, performances and events.
